TCK-Teen Transition Care
Transitioning out of high school is a big deal. There are several things to plan for, think about, and process through. Intercultural Transitions wants to support your transition by offering a package of virtual sessions and an online meet-up group with other students to talk about this season of life with.
Intercultural Transitions has helped hundreds of TCKs find solutions and make important changes that support their global transitions. By participating in activities designed to help with identity development, the Intercultural Transitions team teaches strategies that maximize TCKs’ ability to succeed in transitions by considering the intercultural context, focusing on identity “anchors”, and building community. Intercultural Transition’s clients become interculturally aware by learning how their TCK upbringing influences their thinking, communication styles, resiliency, and core values. The TCKs learn to build relationships with a variety of people and understand the importance of personal leadership and leveraging TCK intercultural competencies.
Starting June 2022, Intercultural Transitions is offering a 4-part virtual TCK Transition series that highlights some important things to process during the post-high school transition. In August 2022, we will host an online discussion group to talk about all the things you’ve learned and processed through with the recordings.
Series Covers:
Develop a sense of personal identity to communicate with others inside and outside of the international school/TCK community.
Cultivate an awareness of the expectations and needs in transitioning from the international school and family unit to university including mastering independent living skills, establishing and maintaining balance, and practicing physical and emotional wellness.
Build personal leadership skills to mentor and guide peer TCK students as they prepare for and transition from the international school setting to university.
Identify on-campus opportunities for students to enhance their academic, social, and physical involvement and ensure students understand the importance of creating a university community.
Discuss the realities of living on your own including - how to budget, handling emergency situations, overall family expectations (transportation, communication, grades, employment, etc.)
